Crazy Hat: "CARNIVAL, CARONI FUSION" created by
Edelle Mannette.
This ‘Crazy Hat’ was inspired by the Caroni Bird
Sanctuary and our very own Trinbago Carnival.
So I dared to fuse the two – I created a Carnival
infused Caroni Bird Sanctuary Scene. The scene
comes alive with the Scarlet Ibis, the Mangroves, a
Cayman in full carnival costume, seemingly waving a hat and a rag. Each colourful bird is adorned with a beautiful
fascinator. Then to the front of the hat, there is an explosion of colour representing our Carnival - the Greatest Show on Earth!

HYATT Regency Trinidad recently hosted a Crazy Hats Carnival Party for its Private Line Members. Private Line is Hyatt’s bookers club with hundreds of members to date.
Held on the esplanade on the waterfront of the hotel, the party was filled with colourful banners, door prizes and costumed characters such as Mokie Jumbies, Sailors and Dame Lorraines with MC Rachel Price and music by DJ Rene.
The highlight of the party was the Crazy Hats competition. All invitees were asked to create and wear a “crazy hat”. Judges were La Toya Woods, Miss TT Universe 2010; journalist Deborah John and Camille Bennett, General Manager Trinidad of Copa Airlines. From small hats to huge hats, there was a wide variety on display. The “Most Creative Hat” went to Edelle Mannette who won two tickets to Panama courtesy Copa Airlines with accommodation.
With great food and a festive atmosphere, the party went into high gear with entertainment by the HD Family featuring Patrice Roberts, Farmer Nappy, Zaan and Umi Marcano and ended with the rhythms of “pan round de
neck”.
